Guide to Disney Dining Plans

For many visitors, a trip to Walt Disney World is not just about the rides and attractions but also about the food. With an array of dining options, from quick service to fine dining, navigating meals can be a bit overwhelming. That’s where Disney Dining Plans come in. These plans offer a way to simplify dining, potentially save money, and make the experience even more magical. Here’s a comprehensive guide to everything you need to know about Disney Dining Plans.

What Are Disney Dining Plans?

Disney Dining Plans are prepaid meal plans that allow guests to purchase dining credits in advance, which can be used throughout Walt Disney World Parks, your Disney World Resort and some locations within Disney Springs. They are designed to make dining easier and more affordable by offering a set number of meals and snacks per day. These plans can be added to your vacation package when booking a stay at a Disney Resort hotel.

Types of Disney Dining Plans

As of the latest updates, Disney offers two dining plan options. It’s important to check the official Disney website or consult with a FandomTrek travel agent for the most current offerings, as plans and availability can change.

Quick Service Dining Plan: This plan is ideal for guests who prefer a more casual dining experience. It includes:

  • 2 Quick-Service Meals (includes 1 entree and 1 drink) per Night of Stay

  • 1 Snacks or Non-Alcoholic Beverages per Night of Stay

  • 1 Refillable Resort Mug

Quick-Service Meals can be redeemed at counter-service restaurants where you order at a counter or register and then find a seat. This plan is great for families on the go who want to maximize their time in the parks. Everyone in your party, ages Three and up, will receive these credits to use during your stay.

You can also redeem Quick-Service Meals at your Walt Disney World Resort and at certain locations within Disney Springs. If you wish to see what is included with your Quick-Service Meal plan, you can look it up on the Disney Website or refer to the information in your Dining Plan package sent by FandomTrek.

Snacks are redeemable at Quick-Service restaurants, most Outdoor Carts and select merchandise locations, snacks may include a single serving of items such as:

  • Frozen ice cream novelty, popsicle or fruit bar

  • 2 scoops of hand-scooped ice cream

  • Popcorn scoop (single-serving box)

  • Piece of whole fruit

  • Single-serve bag of snacks

  • 20-ounce bottle of Coca-Cola® products, including Dasani® water

  • 20-ounce fountain soft drink

  • Single-serve coffee, hot chocolate, hot tea, milk or juice

  • Cup of soup

  • Add on toppings or sauces (e.g. side of cheese dipping sauce)

Table Service Plan: This option offers a balance between quick service and table service. It includes:

  • 1 Table-Service Meal per Night of Stay

  • 1 Quick-Service Meal per Night of Stay

  • 1 Snacks or Non-Alcoholic Beverages per Night of Stay

  • 1 Refillable Resort Mug

This plan is perfect for guests who want a mix of quick meals and a few sit-down experiences. How the Disney Dining Plans Work

When you purchase a Disney Dining Plan, each guest in your party (Ages 3+) receives a set number of meal and snack credits per night of your stay. Here’s a breakdown of how these credits can be used:

  • Meal Credits: Can be used for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Table-Service credits can be used at sit-down restaurants, while Quick-Service credits are valid at counter-service locations.

  • Snack Credits: Can be used for snacks and beverages at various locations throughout the parks and resorts.

  • Refillable Resort Mug: This mug can be used for unlimited refills of soft drinks, coffee, and tea at select locations within your resort.

Benefits of Disney Dining Plans

  • Convenience: With a dining plan, you don’t need to carry cash or worry about charging meals to your room. Simply use your meal credits!

  • Budgeting: Prepaying for your meals can help you manage your budget more effectively. You know exactly what you’ve spent on food before you even arrive, reducing financial surprises.

  • Variety: Disney Dining Plans offer a range of dining experiences, from quick bites to fine dining. With numerous restaurants across the parks and resorts, there’s something for everyone.

  • Flexibility: While meal credits are assigned per Night, you can use them at any time during your stay. This flexibility allows you to adapt your dining plans based on your schedule and preferences.

Considerations Before Choosing a Dining Plan

  • Cost vs. Benefit: Assess whether the dining plan will actually save you money compared to paying out-of-pocket. If you’re planning to eat primarily at quick-service locations or outside the parks, the dining plan might not offer significant savings.

  • Dining Preferences: If you prefer a more spontaneous dining experience or plan to eat mostly at non-Disney restaurants, the dining plans might not be as advantageous.

  • Reservations: Table-Service meals require advance reservations, often months in advance. Make sure you’re comfortable with this and plan your dining experiences accordingly.

Disney Dining Plans offer a convenient and potentially cost-effective way to enjoy the vast array of dining options at Walt Disney World. Whether you’re looking for quick bites between rides, resort meals or full-service meals with character experiences, there’s a plan that can fit your needs. By understanding the types of plans available and assessing your dining preferences, you can make an informed decision that enhances your Disney vacation experience.
